Abstract

Engaging in regular physical activity is a crucial measure for maintaining fitness and supporting a healthy lifestyle within the community. This community service initiative aimed to improve fitness and raise awareness among the residents of Pledokan Hamlet regarding the importance of physical activity through a group exercise session held in conjunction with the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day celebrations. The event took place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 07:00 WIB, directly involving local residents. Activities included participant preparation, an instructor-led group exercise session, and the reinforcement of messages highlighting the importance of physical activity that is simple, enjoyable, and sustainable as a routine practice. The event demonstrated high levels of resident participation and enthusiasm. The group exercise session provided an opportunity for the community to engage in physical activity while simultaneously strengthening social interaction, a sense of togetherness, and the spirit of mutual cooperation (*gotong royong*). This activity illustrates that leveraging community events can serve as a practical approach to encouraging resident participation in physical activity. Sustaining these efforts through regular community exercise sessions is expected to foster habits that lead to a more active, fit, and health-conscious lifestyle.
